Default Eye fell out :(

The old 8” H4 lens fell out syndrome.
The reflector buckets were rusted beyond help. Are there any good options to keep the 8” lights without forking over the small fortune for new ones?

This is a 79 Euro with the hydraulic adjusters which don’t work either.
Would the 8” H5 be an alternative?

We have a used H5 but it is far from a cheap option. The cheapest way is going back to a 7" headlight with chrome trim ring

What all is required to install the H5’s just the reflector or will I need the bracket assembly also?

Has anyone successfully replaced good H4 lenses on previously cracked ones? My lenses are still good

You could re-plate/re-chrome the reflectors, but if the metal is so far gone, then probably not worth it. The lens clean up nicely with a glass polish.

Unfortunately the reflectors are way too far gone.

This was restored. I think even badly rusted through portions can be repaired. Is yours's much worse?

For 7" lights, reach out to Daniel Stern Lighting and he will guide you to what are the current best options. Many years ago they were from Cibie, but last I checked with him that had changed. Don't know what it is now. He can also provide different lumen options.

One important recommendation if you don't have the set up already is to use a relay and appropriate wiring for providing power to the headlights, especially with the more powerful lights.

I may have to go with 7” since there are other repairs that should be a higher priority but maybe I can find some used H5 or H4 with broken lenses and then transplant my lenses on. This may be wishful thinking because I seem to remember someone offers replacement plastic lenses for this type of repair situation.

I will reach out to Daniel to see what he has.
Thanks for the link!
