Vacuum Hoses
Greetings once more from Berlin!
I will be starting a new thread this weekend as I get my 1984 S back on the road after 20 years from last service and 6 years of storage by the PO.
I have gathered my parts and toys for the job but have a question on how much and what size vacuum hoses I need to stock up on. I will be replaceing all.
any hints? I have seem both 3mm and 3,5 mm for sale on Porsche after market sites in Silcone and both sizes cannot be right.
is there a Vaccum Buda here who can bless me with enlightenment?
all the best,
DDay

The small hoses are 3.2mm.. Or, as I say, their ID is 1/8".

The hose between the engine, vacuum booster, and splitter is a special reinforced, non-collapsing hose so that you don't lose power brake assist under engine vacuum conditions. Don't use regular rubber or silicone hose for this.
You need part number 999-181-022-51 and it will give you enough length to do 2 or 3 cars.

Thanks, I looked at those too wich kind of confused me as they were 4mm and the other specs I have seen were 3,2 mm. Am kind of an origanaliist but if the 4mm work is good to know. Many thanks, DDay

thanks for the heads up! by looking at these I can assume i will see and feel the difference. That said I have the reciepts for parts from 1997-2014 and it looks like someone did a DIY at that time. so Could be they did it wrong so will watch out.
all the best and many thanks,
