Yep,
The amazing folding rear wing....Early 87 S4...supposedly ended somewhere between vin 1385 and 1400 or so....
Rumor has it that the folding wing was used to allow for easy window cleaning, however, the mechanism broke easily and was very expensive to replace..hence the fixed wing thereafter...

I assume you're talking about the wing here. From an early 87 S4. (I forget when they went to the fixed.)

Hints:
- there are two of these on your car (picture shows several views of same part)
- it is exterior body color (amazon green in this case)
(ignore the text that reads "shear points")

So, I think I need to give you a BZZZZZZZZZZT.
These come in a left and right flavor.
Perhaps a more fulsome description might change my mind?

The part pictured mysteriously dropped out of my undertray just after IOC 1 in 2000. None missing on my GT. Rich's Amazon GTS was missing none either. No other Amazon sharks in the vicinity. Seems to have been dropped in production and spent 10 years finding its way to the ground...
