Hydraulic systems are brakes, power steering, automatic transmission and PSD.
Then it's not hydraulic.

Perhaps a metering or check valve, part of the power steering?

We know:

"There's liquid involved... "rivet" is in contact with one."

not:
washer fluid
brake system
power steering
automatic transmission
PSD
engine oil
HVAC
Fuel system component


Car fluids:
washer fluids (ordinary and Special)
brake fluid
auto trans fluid
oils (engine and manual trans)
Oils in dampners / struts / engine mounts
freon
gasoline
antifreeze


Antifreeze is the only fluid which has not been ruled out, but I do not recognize the part as from the cooling system. Some other oils were not eliminated.

Clearly a guess, but probably one of the motors in the seat adjustment system?

Erkka: I think its electric switch component. My guess would be its one of those in center console, but not sure... :-)
