Nice, Andy! Is that with the drag radials on the back, or is there some other reason for your mysterious wheel choice?

Thx SS. Yes, those would be the drag radials. I had them on for my trip to Carlsbad raceway the weekend before.

For my first run I lined up by a Camaro. I asked him his times Because I wanted to take it easy my first run. He answered 13.5 sec. OK, I thought, I'll just stick w/ him and take it easy my first run. I took off without even spinning and just kinda cruised, didn't even rev it out. I looked to the side and he was no where to be found. I thought he had trouble or someting. I picked up my slip and I had run a 12.43. I only got 2 more runs and spun the tires on those, knocking me back to 12.5 at 114 mph. That track sux, service roads are dirt sand.

That color looks fantastic. What a wolf in sheep's clothing... well, not exactly sheeps clothing... well, y'know...

Hey, don't you bake your tires at all to prep for a run? I would think that should throw the sand off. Seems like a waste of rubber to some, but you might knock off a good piece of that .4 seconds with hot sticky rubber if you're not already doing this.

SS,
That would be the ideal thing to do. These tires are temperature dependant. It's just hard to do at this track because of the confines. FWIW though I have gone out on a 60 degree evening and took off hard enough to do 4.29 sec 0-60 without even spinning the tires on normal pavement with no burnout preparation. This track really just sux. Kaz mentioned that even AWD Audies have trouble there. Palmdale is better but still not great, not to mention it is at 2700ft altitude = about 3% slower.

Impressive.... sounds like you're about ready for a line-lock though. The next crazy step after that would be to re-route your intensive washer pump so that it sprays bleach on the back tires.

SS,
Whats a line lock?

ToeJam,
Yeah it's hard to get a good background in this part of town. That's why i used that little pond as the background for the others.

Shane,
If you are fighiting temptation then don't be reading Excellence magazine. They will be here Sunday to take some pictures for a feature story they may do on my car. I took these pics because they called me and asked for some.

Essentially it's a check valve in your brake line that can be activated at will. Normally it does nothing. Then, when you want to heat up your back tires, you flip a lever to engage the check valve(s) which is/are plumbed to your front brakes. You then tromp hard on the brake pedal a couple times then release. At this point your front brakes remain engaged due to the check valve while the back brakes are released. The benefits of this for heating rear tires should be obvious. When you go to stage, you release the line-lock and your brakes are back to normal.

IIRC later 928s had the brake system divided up by axle; this would require a single-port line-lock. Brake systems that are divided diagonally would require a two-port line-lock to separate out the two front calipers.

Hey Macreel,
Did you come to SITM, and do you have a beard? From your pics it seems you have a beard, and there was a fellow at Mt Mitcchell that had a C Everett Coop beard. I wondered if it was you?

This one's for you.

No, I wasn't at SITM; no beard now; sounds

Andy K,
Nice looking shark...great color and wheels (993 cup variety). Is that an SITM photo? Don't recall seeing the nice "hood ornamentation" in the photo Sorry....had to say somethin'. What is the paint color called?
Cheers,
Tim
