Default The a/c clutch exploded!

Well, my a/c went out AGAIN! Damn it! It sounded like a ruined idler bearing. OK.

Anyways, I find out I've got plenty of freon in the system. Well, I guess plenty of freon. I can't really take accuret pressure readings because the clutch is not engageing at all. I look closer, the wire for the clutch is just hanging in the air, sheered off. What the hell.

Anyways, I get it apart, and there are miles of steel wireing all over the place.

Strange.

Any suggestions on what would cause the electromagnent to come apart like that?

Thanks.

Partial engagement, leading to friction and heat... any signs of excessive heat either on the wire, near the seal, or in the belt groove?

How about excessive clutch slipping before hand?

I remember hearing it before hand, but it didn't regester at the time.

Well, I'm MORE than brave enough to do a total reseal, having already done it once...

What type of car are the compressers off of? (if, 928 what year model?) And who made the compressor?

Thanks.
