Default Help a racer! Cracked wheel

I was preparing my car for the PCA Club Race which is next Friday-Saturday-Sunday when I found a crack in my front Forgeline wheel

Does anyone have a 9.5 x 17 (73mm offset) they can lend me and I'll replace it with the one I get from Forgeline?

I'll be calling Forgeline tomorrow, but not to confident that they will get me one in time.

I've got a pair of 9.5x17 Forgeline RS (could be RS competition - I'm not sure how to tell) from my 79 track car under development that I could spare for a month or so. Actually not sure of the offset. I crudely measure it at 70mm. Is there a trick to accurately measure offset? Anyway, it's probably OK. One wheel appears to heve been repaired (I see a weld bead inside). They have Kumho Victoracers mounted (275/40) with maybe a race or two left in them.

Bills are my old wheels and are in perfect shape and have been "stress relieved" by the factory. (I had some failures with the forgelines, with all 4 rims, so forgeline repaired and replaced most of the rim (centers are still fine on all 4 rims at different times, and now they have new outers so they are like a new rim). Bill has them now.
the offset is perfect for the front. they are 8" backspacing on a 9.5" width rim. (the math is pretty simple to determine offset) also, i have a couple of used hoosiers if you need them, both have about 2 races left on them now.

Mark,

Theses are the rims I purchased from you a few years back.
Running new S04's at the race thanks to Bill sending me a wheel.

Forgeline won't just replace it. They told me they can't fix it since the hub is cracked. They will only pro-rate for up to three years. Hoping the one that is cracked is the one I purchased in 2002 to replace one I bent up.

Waiting to hear back from them on their production schedule.

Going to get a set of three piece wheels for next year and run slicks.

how funny. early memory loss!!

I dont remember if those rims had been sent back, or if I had any issues with those rims. Those, may have been the new manufacturing style.
a cracked center is something different. thats not good!@! . I do know Bills were the other set i was using. I rotated them . one set with hoosiers and the other were commuting on Kumhos.

The 3piece way is the way to go . Forgeline should fix these rims. thats terrible that they would break or crack. the last thing a racer wants to be concerned with is wheel falure. for the money new, its probably better to go with the 3 piece wheel.

Your running slicks next season???? next thing you will tell me you are going stroker!! Hey, the mouse motor DOT group is dwindling!!!

So Kibort,
What does your crystal ball predict for lap times? I'm sure you have a formula for that track.

mk - Is Laguna Seca THIS weekend? I thought I missed it last weekend. If you are racing somewhere on Sunday, let me know. I have a free day this weekend, although I should spend the time finishing on my projekt79 so it will be ready when John returns the rim!
