Hi all,
Ive got my 928 s (83-4.7L) booked in at 928 Specialist (UK) end of January.
My question is, what should be the top "safety and reliability" things to have checked by them?
Car has been combed through and everything seems to be working well but my mechanic has become awfully disinterested and doesn't seem to have his head in the game for the last two years so I don't trust his advice anymore though his work is solid. I also don't want to drop the car off at specialist with no guidelines or checklist if that makes sense.

Pull the cover for the fuel pump and make sure that there are no fuel leaks, in this area. If you don't have a service history on the fuel filter, this might be a good time to change it.
Finally, in this area, make sure that some prior idiot didn't clock the fuel pump so that the power wire contacts the cover....the power wire must be clocked towards the plastic tank (this is an amazingly common issue!)

I would say if they look OE, replace them outright.

We spend a bit more time with both pre-purchase and post purchase inspections.
There's generally an almost an infinite variety of things to find that prior idiots have done wrong.

The cover, quite literally, is one of the last items to be installed, in our shop.
And a full 25% of the cars we see, for the first time, have the positive cable protective boot SMASHED into the cover.

We will spend a minimum of 4 hours (with both me and my son looking) a new client's car over.

But on the other hand, Jochen told me recently, if a lucky customer has only a list with 10.000 € work the car is in remarkably good condition.
So if the customer visit the shop year by year to work on the problems from high to low priority the inspection is the rounding error.
A lot of people can‘t work on their own cars.
