Default Rebuilding Seats

Word on the street here on rennlist is that the 928 group is the best source for seat rebuilding information.

I am hoping to glean some of this knowledge and apply it to the rebuilding of my seats destined for a special project. I have a pair of power sliders that I have harvested from donor seats. There are a number of plastic wear items/washers that are part of the screw drives that take up slack and minimize free play in the assembly. See pictures below.

Plastic/rubber cover surrounding the thrust washer is present on the 'newer' donor seat rail. Pardon the debris...it will be cleaned and lubricated prior to reassembly.

Older donor rail with degraded/destroyed plastic/rubber cover showing the metal thrust washer. Is there a source for these items?

End of the screw drive on a the newer donor. Note the cup washer and what appears to be some sort of shaft centering guide washer held in place with a circ clip. Is there a source for either of these items, or has someone taken the initiative to produce these from a hard plastic (UHMW?) material or 3D printed them??

Thanks for looking.

Jay,

There is a chap who flogs these kits on Ebay that appear to be 3D printed - a few folks on this list have used them. Do a search in Ebay using "Porsche seat repair kit" as the search criteria. It is the same system as used on 944 and 911 seats and costs around $40 or so as I recall. I have never used them personally.

I sorted this problem out on my 928 seats by using copper washers. I had a pile of them of different thickness's sized for spark plugs but never used them for intended use so re-purposed them.

If you are going to repair the seat adjusters, here are a couple of forum posts you should review that detail the process as well as links to inexpensive components you can source yourself:

Hey Jay, you may already have this but there is a seat-specific PET on the Porsche website. I've attached it to this post for convenience.
