Your photos are better than the sellers. You got a great deal!
When you are at GB's you might consider one of his alternators along with fuel lines.
Have fun!

So far, so good!
Spit’s 928 has been eating up California roads at a brisk pace, and seems extremely happy doing so. Here’s a few photos from yesterday:

Your in for a fun memorable (most likely in a good way) trip.....anything that might cause and issue Doc will find pretty easy.....
Sean drove his S4 5 speed from my house in Stockton (north along your route possibly) to Edmonton a few years back, but he did do it in summer....1600 easy miles
928's of any generation are not going to feel "quick" by todays standards....they never were designed for 0-60 times, but do decent considering.....they really shine at higher highway speeds......example my old 2020 Miata RF is faster 0-60 than almost all 928's......but which would I take on a long road trip.....Sharky (88S4) everyday

Well guys, all good things must come to an end -- in this regard I'm sad to say that our adventures (which have taken us from the Napa Valley to GB's shop in LA, with various stops and detours and wonderful little drives along the way) is now over and we're headed back to frosty Canada. Big thanks to NorthernMark for his wonderful companionship and for exercising his superb photojournalism skills along the way -- I would have been lost without him on several occasions, of that I am certain.
Over the course of the last 4 or 5 days we put close to 1,000 miles on this wonderful machine and she didn't miss a beat; first she was mixing it with some fairly modern machinery on the BCR rally in Napa Valley last Saturday, then she turned her attention to relaxed 80mph cruising on the highways. What a fab machine she has proven herself to be.
My shark is now in the capable hands of GB so that several deferred maintenance items can be taken care of. Stay tuned since there's a chance I may breath new life into this thread in the Spring if I decide to drive her back to Canada.

Might be the "best early car buy" in a long time! The interior, alone, exceeds what Simon paid for the entire car!
Simon and his friend Mark (who has multiple Italian cars I've never heard of) were extremely pleasant people and are great addition to our community (Mark just bought an '86.5, BTW.)
Yes, there is a two page list of things that bother Simon and things that we noticed.....most of which are fairly minor.
However, the list will be down to 1/2 a page in one or two good day's work. (For instance, instead of 4 hours of completely disassembling the sunroof and starting over with two hours of cable and parts cleaning, we were able to simply clean off the old gummy grease, in the front, and apply some new specialty grease. Works perfect! 15 minutes of effort.)
There are some routine maintenance items, like wheel bearings, axles, transmission, suspension issues, all of which are completely normal for a 40+ year old car.
Simon: Perhaps something that people would enjoy would be updates of what is happening (and why.)
They may even enjoy the "list" and have some valuable suggestions!

We all like the „picture love story“ of this time capsules!
The cars from the 80‘s have this really nice color combinations, not grey, black and white only.
The list is an good help for every new purchased car, if you have luck nobody with no clue messed with the car in the past, from my experience are these „modifications „ very frustrating to find.
But it‘s also the nice thing to do this cars, working on the list and feeling the machine is awakening and doing all stuff like 40 years ago intended.

@GregBBRD -- I think it's a terrific idea that we should document the deferred maintenance items (plus a couple of nice to have upgrades) that we plan on addressing, plus the reasons why. I'll get something started.
