Weird engine noise

This is my first project car so I am unsure of what I'm dealing with here. I replaced the battery in the car and after putting in the new one and starting the car, the engine made a strange noise. Also, the fuel lines aren't connected. A friend who works with cars suggested it could be the blower motor for the heater. Any suggestions?

Can you locate where the noise is coming from? Hopefully it is a mechanical sound and not electrical. For locating the sound use a stethoscope or a long screwdriver put to your ear. I have even used a hollow tube. Once you locate it, it may be easier to diagnose. (The audio is short and somewhat unclear) Good luck!

Yes, there was someone turning the key. I talked to the previous owner and he said that with the old battery, the car would turn over. When I bought the car the old battery was dead so this was my first time starting the car with a working battery. I will turn the key again today and see if it is the motor teeth. Thank you!

I'll try to use a stethoscope because I do have one and I may have a hollow PVC pipe. I'll keep you updated and post a more clear video of the issue. Thank you for the suggestion!

The starter is not engaging. What you hear when the key is turned, is the starter solenoid.
Check the voltage on the jumper cable terminal. Although the battery is new, this sounds like a low voltage situation at the starter.

make sure the fuel lines are connected prior to starting the engine.
I am confused with your first post are looking to see if the engine cranks over?
OR are you trying to see if it will run?
are the fuel lines disconnected while your testing?
was the starter replaced?
did you charge the battery with a battery charger at 6 amps for 4 hours?
NOTE a battery tender is not a battery charger.

I wanted to see if the engine would turn over. My issue was with the noise coming from the engine. This time (10 mins ago) when I turned it over there was no odd noise coming from the car and I got the headlights and gauge lights to turn on. I believe that the fuel lines are disconnected. I have not had the opportunity to make sure, and I'm going off of the previous owner's word. Should I focus on making sure the starter is in working condition now ?

I started the car again and I was not met with the same noise that I got in the video I posted. I am gonna look into the situation with the starter. I am fairly new to this so I apologize in advance if seem confused.

first thing check the fuel lines to make sure that are all connected then hand crank the engine over to verify the timing marks line up and the plug wires are routed properly
Post a few pictures of the engine bay
please identify,
the year,
and trans
and how many miles your car is
