I'm having a no start problem. Tach is jumping up to 3.5k and the Volt meter goes into the red area. Cleaned the connectors in the X-Bus relay.
Only thing I can think of is the starter switch. The starter turns over. I also made sure the 14 pin was clean and all connections are good. This is a new cable from about a year ago. Also at the same time I had put in a Greg Brown alternator.
Was wondering what the group thought on this.
Attached is a picture of the instrument panel in the on position just before crank.
If the voltmeter is calibrated correctly and your battery is up to snuff you should see about 12.5 volts when the ignition is turned on. The tachometer needle should jump instananeously when the ignition is switched on then drop to zero. The needle should then rise some as the motor cranks.
If the motor cranks when the key is turned that tells you that the bus 50 connection is working but that does not necessarily mean the rest of the ignition switch has done what it needs to do. When the ignition switch is in the on position you should see battery voltage on terminal 86 of the EZ relay socket
Update it seems to be interment. Noticed that all of the warning lamps are dim when it jumps to 3.5k and it won't start. Working the lamps are bright and it starts fine. Tach only jumps to about 100rpm which is about what I usually see. I had checked the EZF relay in which Fred had indicated. I also pulled the cable off the EZF computer also. After starting and shut off I noticed the first time I turned the key to on the tach again jumped to 3.5k. I hate intermittent problems. I have the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Just need my tools unpacked due to moving.
Update I have cleaned all grounds except the one behind the dash. Will be doing this one when I get settled in new home. I going to send my dash to @olmann to get it re done in leather.
