Default Brake Venturi Hose Clamps Removal

Hi all, hoping this is an easily resolved dumb question. How do you remove the crimped on hose clamps on both ends of the brake venturi?

Trying to wrap up intake refresh on 88 S4 and would like to replace the rubber hoses on both ends of the venturi but can't figure out how these special clamps remove. Any help appreciated.

those are one time use crimp in clace clamps. you will need to destroy the clap to remove it. If you have a good set of side cutters you should be able to clip the crimped loop to release the clamp.

Thank you! I hadn't run into those anywhere else on the project and was wanting to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'll get some new clamps on order first.

The hose from the booster to that is also a special reinforced, non-collapsing hose. You can't replace it with a regular rubber hose.

^^^ It's also an odd size. Many auto parts stores have what they call 15/32 Brake Booster Hose. I got some at O'Reilly's. Not sure if the original hose was formed or just set from heat. The replacement I got was straight but I was able to "preform" (a little bit anyway) it with heat.

For those Oetiker clamps, I use a small screwdriver, just big enough to fit in the bridge. You can either pry up the tab, right where your finger is in the picture, then keep prying around to release the clamp, or put the flat head screwdriver in the bridge portion of the clamp, and twist. The side cutters I have to work with have always been just a little too big to get a good handle on somewhere to cut on those clamps.

Good luck

If all else fails one can get a home brew version from a Brit who operates out of Texas!

That's what I did proactively after reading the thread - should be arriving tomorrow. Also got nervous about the venturi having a petrified o-ring so ordered a replacement of that too - might as well just do the whole run with new clamps and keep the originals stored away.
