My 928s are teaming up to lock me out...
So, same issue with two different cars in 24 hours...I'd swear they are teaming up on me!
Yesterday, I unlocked drivers door in a 87 928s4 and started it to let it warm up before a quick trip. As it was idling, the drivers door closed behind me...and then locked itself! Its running, and I'm locked out. The central locking works fine, and the passenger door locked too. Fortunately, I had left the drivers door window cracked open and leaned in and turned off the car. After that all key/unlocking functions seem fine.
Then, this morning I start up my 86.5 to let it warm up before my trip for breakfast taco Tuesday. I closed the drivers door and the car locked itself up, both sides. I had learned my lesson so the window was down and I leaned in and turned it off. On this car, when I started back up the locks started "cycling" on their own from lock to unlock, rinse, repeat. I could not get it to stop until I pressed the "Key" button in center console. Now, everything seems to operate as normal.
I know that the locking system is finicky about locking one door and then trying to unlock the other door or versa. So, as always I only lock and unlock the drivers door, and dont mix up the sequence.
I was lucky this time, but what occurred is a mystery to me?

Jason,
It's the Porsche Gods demanding that you drive them more than you do.
You might have to set up a small Porsche altar and sacrifice a used timing belt or something.
I have no real info for you on the causes of your phantom door locking, though.

Aftermarket alarms are famous for this "feature".
I've had this occur way too many times!
I had a GTS, in the shop, which would roll up the windows, close the sunroof, and lock itself....while sitting there running.
Twice!
With only one key, in existence.
I'm not aware of this nightmare occurring, with a stock car.

first thing buy a pack of long fluid straws,
fit on to your favorite long term lubrication oil and spray your door latches inside the door ,
I like, window down, and a friend holding the light,
it is best go in from the window slot.
Next thing you may need a new door lock mechanism (not the door lock motor, )
next is the white door latching plate attached to the rear of the door.
I had to get both of these parts to fix my 82 with the constant lock cycling,
this was after fitting two different door lock motors.
Take a picture of the key and buy a second key.

You can also swap out the special window relay with a standard 5 pin one if this proves to be ongoing.
This will bypass the door lock button's power feed and the car will only lock and unlock the doors when the ignition is off.
You can also bypass the door locks completely by installing a 4 pin "53" relay into that socket as well.
It isn't a real long term fix, but it will keep this from happening again.
