Default Building a new passenger side cover

The passenger side cover in my 86.5 had completely deteriorated, and I decide to replace it with something more durable, so I made one from steel sheet, reusing the old carpet:

Shell of the original cover, upholstery removed

Shell disassembled for patterns

Nibbling pattern out of steel sheet

Placing fittings

Edges smooth on main shell and formed using a small brake

Inexpensive Harbor Freight brake

Test fitting

Riveting pieces together

Final fit - supports my knee!

Thank you - very well done!

I love the idea of it having added support, though if I ever do this and think my old knee may be involved, I will probably look into some hard foam cushioning!
