Default Does NE1 Know this 928 for sale on BAT?

I find this intriguing. Someone here must have either created this car or knows of it. The history of the engine work is missing and there is obviously some love that went into it and some neglected parts (like no shifter). I live 7 miles from Laguna. I could totally see driving this to the track, having a great day with low consumables and then being happy to be back in a unique 928. Open to feedback and thoughts.

Been around every track in Norcal for 20yrs, never seen this one...

Interesting wont fetch a high price...pretty colors however.

Cant say "race car" without a log book in hand..you can have some expired safety gear (olde cage design for example) and remain legal IF you retained the log book with the cage stamped SN in it....but no log book, and something build great 20yrs ago, may need entirely torn out to start over. The harness bar is too low for that seat (angle from shoulders far too steep, this was new ~8yrs ago when spinal injuries forced a change)...that concerns me...other than that looks well prepared...really well.

And HPDE, with a 'race car' will require to be up to date the same way.

well it looks like there at least 2 Gulf colored engines running around,
one is in an engine bay ,
the other in someones living room with a piece of glass over it
I think this a cool car with everything thats been done to it,
It will need a few track laps to sort out the bugs.
I see it needs a fuel pump cover .

I like the car, and tossed a bid on. I am looking into a dedicated HPDE car, and this one looks to nearly fit the bill, t the right price. I'd take it for 944 money. It is going to go for a lot more than that I think, so I'll be out. It reminds me of Matt's car from a few years back - look up "The Fixer" - that was his handle. He did an 83 in Gulf blue and shaved lots of weight off of it.

It's pretty cool.for a track car, but don't know how fast it would be. The 928 5 speeds can't be shifted quickly and it's not a powerhouse. Think it might look more the part than actually be the part.

I have a solid fuel pump cover to sell to the new owner for painting in orange or blue

That's the best race car - body kit car and wacky paint job car I have ever seen on a 928. The colors/graphics and lines of this are incredible. Better than the LeMans car or the all Orange car in europe. Phenomenal job by the builder.

That car is sweet and should sell for 6 figures. Just slap a supercharger on it and some wider rear rubber and you're good.and maybe a sequential gearbox?

maybe Nakai-san is moonlighting, Hot Wheels 928!

A real race car with a real class to compete in, in complete shape, you can get for $40-50k.

A 928 has no class to be competitive in, anywhere...and not being a complete car, and no logbook is risky for any knowledgeable race car buyer. Its an awesome car, but 6 figure...absolutely not. Its a fun open track machine...and nobody anywhere is lining up to build 928 open track cars. Cool car..just not a race car with a home in any national series.

They may not be the same car, but a winning national spec miata at 2300lbs ready to race tomorrow is maybe $30-40k? And will be within a few single digit seconds of this car at most tracks. The weight/HP ratio of a 928 without _significant_ work to then attempt to be competative in an unlimited class, is the problem.

Not every cool car is a competative race car...some have no homes in any class at all.

Racing is not open tracking..decide what you wanna do, and then define a target purchase.

230 hp M28.15 with a hot air intake, in front of a G28.05 without a limited slip, stripped interior but full cage, the body kit probably balances out the weight loss from the sunroof and rear hatch glass. Would take a wild stab at a curb weight of 2900 (?) 19s are heavy. Stock brakes? It does look great in pics, nice attention to detail.

my concern is that someone is going to get suckered into buying a tired worn out 928 with 250K miles on it, because it has a cool wrap on it.

Everything is easy AFTER YOU SEE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT!

Forget "racing" if you are not in Formula 1 (and a couple others) you are NOT a race car driver. Just a hobbyist. Archie the pigeon is a great example

You guys are missing the point! This is the 1st car of this category that really LOOKS GOOD!
The Stance, the height, the size of the flares, the graphic design ALL WORK TOGETHER to make this look way better than any other. ALL others look bad in some way. 1 of the white porsche factory track cars is drooping in the back with crappy tucked wheels, it looks like ****, other attempts look pathetically amateurish.

Look at every angle of this car, it is the best NON-STOCK-TYPE 928 and I include all those strosek type things and that new frenchie thing. RAUH WELT costs a fortune and people **** all over them mechanically but it looks GREAT. This thing is not a street car, just a toy for someone with tons of dough to play with. (though I wonder what a solid color would look like.)

There is massive talent in this thing, design-wise, that was my point. I own 1 of the best street 928's that is way nicer mechanically than this, but that was not my point. This thing IS the HOT WHEELS 928!

I really like this car, but that's a stretch. The riveted on fenders look like they were made in a highschool shop class and the wheels are horrendous. I have no idea what's going on with the graphics on the rear window.

Pre-covid numbers this car would have been lucky to reach $10k.

Sure I can. There are endless ways to "race" not just the sanctioned events you are part of.
Are you going to tell someone that bought a 911 Cup Car they don't own a "race car" just because it's never been teched and given a log book? You realize how ridiculous that is?
Try telling everyone down at the Friday Night Street Drags that none of them own a "race car". Especially the guy with the full caged Charger crossing the line at 180mph. He doesn't have a log book.

Not every country has the same rules either:
https://supersprintnsw.com/log-book-faqs/
Road registered cars are encouraged to obtain a Motorsport Australia log book but this is not a requirement. However, it is recommended that road registered cars competing in the Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championships obtain a log book.
Some states, like Wisconsin, you can actually title and get a license plate for race cars. There used to be a McLaren M8 running around with a plate zip-tied to the roll bar.

to each their own. I think the colors and the wrap cover up some of the hideous mods and for good reason. just my opinion. you can but a habit on a hooker but that doesn't make her a nun.
