Unhappy 86 928s headers

hello I am new to this forum,

So I have an 86 928s and recently bought headers. I have put the headers on with a lot of manipulation but unfortunately as I was putting them on I had an o-ring gasket fall out and was wondering if anyone has done this before ,and if there is a way to get that gasket back in without having to remove the header entirely. I would ideally not have to remove them because of how much of a pain they were to get on in the first place.

Oof. I put headers on my '85 and i understand *exactly* what you mean. i'm hoping that it fell out of the passenger side and not the driver's side.

Unfortunately, i don't see how you put it back in with certainty without removing the headers. What I can say is the i used a tite-reach to put my headers in. Being a complete noob to working on cars, this thing really helped me. It's a bit pricey, but really helped. Good luck!

Since the metal O-ring has to be smaller that the distance between the studs, it seems like you should be able to loosen the headers and slip the O-ring in.

Welcome to the forum @Crowbar_Mechanic . I used a couple of drops of black rtv on each ring to hold them in place on the head when I installed headers on my '86.5 a few weeks ago. Out of curiosity, what brand headers did you put on your 86?
