How do I disassemble this Bosch Plug?
How do I get the wires out of this connector? Special tool required? I've poked and prodded, but haven't applied much force as I don't want to booger things up too badly.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks, Dave . . . I don't have a dental probe, so I've been trying to release the catches with a jeweler's screwdriver. You don't happen to know the best way to approach the catches, do you?

Look at www.molex.com
It may have a tool to help.
In the past, I've used dental type tools to pull the pins.
I've also used the jewelers screwdriver method as well.

You should not have to pull the wire hard. You should not have to push on the metal tab very hard either. Try a back-and-forth motion pulling & releasing the wire, since the metal tab can dig into the plastic at which point it won't release even if you do hit the right spot with the tool. Be gentle, use patience, and study the empty connector holes with a magnifier under a strong light so you can see how it all goes together.

Thanks, Dave. You probably don't have one of these, but I have five -- two on the car (LH and EZ) and three in a box in the study. It's a Bosch 35-pin connector. I'll try applying a little more patience.

Mark,
I see your already hard at work!
I see you've got the retainer 'comb' out, so now it is only held in by the small metal 'flap' on the pin itself.
Dave gave a very good synopsis, so I shan't regurgitate it. Once, you get the first couple, it gets easy. Really.
Also, try inserting the screwdriver and rotating it several times - this seems to help work the flap down a bit. They are quite sturdy, you can flatten them completely, pull them out, then gently pull it back up again to re-insert, they don't break off (at least none of mine did, and I did about 60 pins in and out).
I'll post a pic of a withdrawn wire in a minute. Though I don't know if it will be terribly helpful. Hang on...

Mark,
Sorry, not able to produce adequate resolution on the camera I have handy. Do make sure you are working the correct side of the plug.
As you look at where the wire is crimped, you can see that the formed and crimped section of the connector is on one side of the pin - that's the side the little retainer flap of metal is on.
Hope that's clear enough - though I fear it may not be.
Call me if you need any walking through.

Thanks, Greg. Is the drawing of the terminal below accurate? I don't see the retainer on the crimp side.
(It's from the Bosch Technical Service Parts catalog -- I'm going to hunt down a source for parts from this catalog.)

Mark,
That is what one style looks like- the other is very similar but a bit different - the receptacle end is like 4 bent loops instad of 4 flat prongs.
They fit interchangably.
There may be newer styles that I just haven't seen, as David mentions.
You should also be able to find a removal tool through any Authorized Bosch Service facility. Try the guys who do diesel FI service, if the catalog thing is unsuccessful.
