Default update 91 GT.....

They delivered the car to my house today and its truly a beautiful car. Very Bright red! This thing screams PORSCHE. Now for the nit picking....more paint work than expected...but very well done it seems...tiny bit of clear coat peeling near bottom of right front fender and touch up on the end of the passenger door edge...the hood does not open well and seems to jam on the front nose a bit and possibly the fenders seem to be too close to the front cowling on top.
Driving the car is great as you all know, but the clutch might be giving off a trace of an odor...hopefully this is not syptomatic of a clutch problem. Tire pressure warning indicator is on all the time and tires are inflated correctly.
Willhoit has agreed to pay for the paint work to make me happy and I believe he is a man of his word....I told him that I would post on Rennlist how he handles my concerns....
The car goes for a extensive evaluation with my 928 mechanic on next Wednesday...I will feel much better after i have his work up. Wether the car has issues or not I will make the car as perfect as I can. this board has made me feel so much better about 928 issues...the members here are the finest out there. Happy to be a part of it!!

Cool

Saw it on E-Bay, and it is beautiful. I'm interested how good the cars are from Wilhoit, they look pretty good in photos. Congrats, looks like you got a beauty.

Pewter congrats on the new car, keep us updated on the mechanics notes.

Paint work is always an issue when you look closely. There would be very few 13 yr old cars with perfect original paint.

Looks like a nice car. Congrats on getting a cherry An amazing selection of dealers down in Springfield, huh? I visitied TEAM and Motorcars International. Really a nice day trip from St. Louis, MO.

Perfect no, not even from the factory, but there are some. Actually maybe even a 1989 928GT with all original paint still on it....

Stay tuned!

There are likely more than a "few" 89 GT cars with the original paint on them.....

Congrats. You took a chance on a dealer that I wouldn't have, w/o an inspection. Hope the inspection turns up nothing you didn't already know. The high bidder still on ebay (Pauldobbs) must be pissed.

Pewter: You have possession, right? Are we talking about #xxx3008 on ebay? The bid is up to 23,600; I think that is a rennlister's bid. Just curious, considering Willhoit's rep.

Hmmm, something bad must have happened. Same car has been re-listed with 7 days left in auction- unless of course there is an abundance of guards red 91 GT's with gts rear ends out there.

So, did Wilhoit sell this outside of eBay and leave the auction running? Not nice if true.

No I have the car, and I inspected the car before buying it, my mechanic will look at it closely next week for all the internal. I am satisfied with the deal and I will fix any issue that arrises as any good owner would. I see the car is still on Ebay and he needs to remove it. Willhoit has treated me fairly and has contacted me since the sale.

From the paint and panel alignment, it sounds like it has been in an accident, any evidence of that?

The car was hit in the rear , but according to several sources..including the PO it was not very hard and seem to only tear the rubber causing the replacement of the rear bumper. GTS bumpers are the only new ones you can buy. My thinking is the nose might have bumped a car in front ..not hard but enough to have realigned the panels slightly. I'm being VERY nit picky and the close proximity of the fender and cowl is only my judgement ...others might disagree that its factory.
