Default In search of- GTS foam air intake tubes

Does anyone make or have a set of the stock foam covered air intake tube for the 93-95 GTS motors?
Looking for NOS or a mint set of tubes, not for the hard plastic type.
Thanks in advance.

New ones are still available from Porsche, I believe. Around $400 or so a side, last time I checked. Anything that's been used for the past 25+ years will be pretty crumby - unless they come from a museum car.

Not a big fan of original tubes. Someone once described them as 2 sea slugs that crawled on the engine.

I did what siscogts did in this thread and also took Worf's idea and used CEET tubing. IMHO they look similar to original and have held up really well. .https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...r-stuff-2.html

That’s a great price knowing I paid $500 a pair 3-4 years ago. The problem is the material and workmanship is terrible. The ones I have are breaking down already. Need a brand new set just for concours use only. Porsche uses gorilla tape on the seam. C’mon Porsche, get some quality manufacturers to produce these!

I would not put that stock original crap back on my car! - there are far better options for longevity & looks and the functional benefit of the foam seems inconsequential to me. Hated the look - they appear defective even when new - that's how they are best case - then they quite quickly get a whole hell of a lot worse.

Don't ask me how I really feel about it!

We supply the new original GTS tubes. However the quality is terrible.
We have to buy about 10 to get two good ones were the seam is underneath and not on the top.
If you buy some make sure they are good and that the seam is on the bottom. We keep sending all the bad ones back so there is a good chance that is what you will get unless you are extra careful. As Mike said they use black tape to close the seam, pretty shoddy to say the least.
Check the return policy first.

The tape they use on the seam looks like the gorilla brand tape and is peeling off. Roger, what is the warranty on these and other Porsche parts? If I purchase these again, I’ll get them from you Roger. At least I know you’ve inspected them.

I've got some used ones...certainly not in new condition, as the OP is looking for.

For Pete in DC, this is where I bought the tubing. The foam I bought while in Germany from extreme audio, but I think a comporable hood insulation would work too: http://www.extremeaudio.de

That's where I get my alternator cooling hose. Never knew I could source hose for my GTS there, too.

Thanks.

No Vector,

Do you remember (or know) the thickness of the foam you used to wrap the CEET hose? It seems 1/8" might be OK, but best to know what an experienced 'producer' used!

Thanks for your help.

Hi Gary - I have some spare and just measured it, ~11 mm or ~7/16"
