Default Any Power Lock Gurus?

Model year 1984 U.S.
Doors unlock themselves and each other with the key, ****, or button.
sometimes (not often enough to associate with another trigger) the locks will cycle when I turn off the ignition.
The console switch is no longer illuminated and does not operate the door locks.
I replaced the controller under the driver side panel of console and panel with button and AC switch (I removed the AC).

Anyone with a theory or similar problem that was solved?

Thank you, gentlemen, and ladies.

Where did you source the replacement part? How can you know it's good? Perhaps you know another 928's with working locks that will allow you to put your lock module in place as a test.

Its almost certainly a grounding problem - clean them all

If you're good with electrics, you can install a $30 aftermarket power locks kit and not only have working locks but also keyless entry (so you stop scratching up your doors) and can even add in remote hatch release.

Default Tell me more please.

It would seem that the ground diagnosis is correct in that I get a sporadic actuation when I turn off the ignition switch (which is also brand new).
I have wire brushed all the ground points twice in the reassembly of this car but will do it again if needed. Where is the ground point for the door lock dash actuator button?

I am not interested in adding anything non-stock to an already almost perfectly functioning electrical system.

My '82 did this and I thought it was the lock assemblies themselves, but I don't recall that If I had evidence for that or not.

Its not detailed for an 84 specifically, but other years its MP IV on the steering column (~behind the cluster)

Default Well alrighty

I went to the wiring diagram in my WSM and Alan is correct (without question).
MP-IV is the steering column ground for the door button side of the panel and the firewall is the ground for the AC switch side of the panel.
I had ground down through the paint and have the alarm ground attached there also, but after loosening, moving, and tightening, the functions have returned.
Thank you, Electron Wrangler!
