Pulling the trigger on 928 twin turbo project
I have made some significant progress on the new twin turbo project. I have the passenger's side manifold just about complete and will be starting on the driver's side this weekend. With any luck both will be done in two week's time.
I have the air to air intercooler on order as well as the signal calibrator with MAF sensor coming. This car is borrowing last year's enhancements to the Callaway, basically directly from last year's R&D. Once the manifolds are complete, I will be making some jigs to be able to easily recreate them in the event I can actually sell a few kits.
Next week, I will be ordering all the pipe and hose and clamps for the intake system from the turbos to the throttle body...that should be easy, the hard part is just doing the fab on the manifolds and wastegate integration.
I know I am going to hate to part with this car once complete... This car will be a great buy once completed and should be quite fun to drive as well. I'm afraid it will run better than the Callaway, that will make it hard to part with. Plus it isn't quite "show quality" like the Callaway and would make a great looking daily driver.
I'm still shooting for July completion and to be able to bring the car to Kansas, but time is running and I have been on numerous business trips over the last month including 2 weekends in Germany/Switzerland. As was the case last year, waiting on parts is the hardest part followed closely by just finding the time to work on it.
Looks like 10 psig at the manifold will be the magic number.
More updates as they become available...no photos!, you guys will just have to wait to see it when it is done.

I am hoping to be able to come to Kansas with the car, if that is what SITM is, but I just don't know yet. You know, once you are married you have to be realistic about how much time you spend in the garage...or you can be in deep doo doo.
I am not planning on putting any photos on the board for obvious reasons, but should I have the car at Kansas this summer, there will be lots of photos.
If I don't finish the gold car, I may just drive the Callaway out and bring some of the bits and pieces for the new turbo system. I'm trying not to kill myself in the process of this project. We just got a new puppy last week after my old dog died, and with that, mowing the lawn and just going to work 10 hours a day, my time in the garage is somewhat limited. I may hire some help to knock this project out, but time will tell. At least it is finally warm here in KY.
I spent the weekend chasing a problem down on the Callaway...a weak alternator will make you tear your hair out checking it all. It takes a lot of spark energy to fire off a dense air charge in the cylinder. As always, the problem is never exactly what you think it is.

No SITM this year? What gives?
John, whereabouts in Kentucky are you? My family lives in Clarkesville and we're visiting on the July 4th weekend. I'd love to see this beast in the flesh.
