As a matter of fact if i am driving my old S10 truck and i see someone parked like that they will be getting in their car from the passenger side or the sunroof when they return because they won't be able to slip a credit card between their driver's side door and the side of my truck. Nothing pisses me off more!
Most of the cars I see parked like that are the all looks and no performance ricers and Camero/Firebird/Corvette drivers. Like one of my friends in high school used to yell at every passing Corvette... "Sorry about your *****!"

Your car is private property. If someone came into your house or up to it and spray painted graffiti on it, would it **** you off? Of course it would and rightfully so. No one has a right to touch or damage your property without your consent. (please don't bring up the obvious exceptions). There is not anymore to say about this subject. The other person is responsible for the damage. Not leaving sufficient room to enter or exit the vehicle is his choice.
As for keying a car, suffice it to say that some people ding other people's cars and some cars get keyed. You arrange that scenario whatever way you like.

However, I feel responsible for damage to my car if I am careless enough to park in a public lot where I know the average mental state and sense of respect for other people's property of the other parkers is close to that of a piece of granite. Time and again I kick myself for exposing the car to damage from some moronic goon. I park and walk, and benefit from the exercise. And I still get dings and especially front and rear bumper scrapes from parallel parking spots. Some people have never been taught or never developed a sense of responsibility.

But if you park miles away in the open and not under a tree a sea bird will fly over your car and crap on it. Maybe going to church would help.......???!!!

[I have no comment on my ***** size. My nude pix are all over the internet; No matter how hard I try to reign them in they still seem to turn up. I don't recommend allowing pornographers to photograph you, no matter how nice they are.

My problem: Those f*cking pics are aimed at the wrong audience. And no matter how they aimed that camera it still looks small! DAMMIT!]

Anyway-

I don't ever park on two spaces. And If I park "artistically" then it means across one particular space! Porsche's need to show off, but don't make it aggravating. There's a guy who is "pushing the salmonella-envelope" in my garage by parking his 996 cabriolet across two spots; I asked him about it one day in the elevator- he pays an extra $150 per month to avoid door dings- !

NOW that's dedication!

I like the guy already. But I achieve the same thing by simply knowing the guy who parks his Infinity next to my 928 in the garage downstairs. He loves my car, and since I know who he is...he's far less likely to back into it. And his G35 coupe is a NICE car~

That's the best way to keep your car safe- make PERSONAL peace with its neighbors.

N!

Wink

To cop a phrase, "Abandon all hope ye who enter here"
Or, "How do I dent thee? Let me count the ways."
I'm a waxaholic, as a result I am extremely aware of a fresh ding, chip, or, scratch.
I also eyeball cars to either side of me and don't spend much time in the store.
Upon return if there is damage that can be matched to those nearby they need a tow service to leave the lot. If I park so far out in a lot that I need a canteen and compass to find my way back and return to find a POS next to me and some damage -any damage- the POS will not be worth repairing.
And I mean this in the nicest possible way.
Screw anger management, feel free to vent.
If one of your kids was getting banged on the head with a swinging door by total strangers you wouldn't think twice.

Disclaimer:
I don't recommend this strategy at all. Nor do I recommend kicking an imaginary POS till there is little plastic and even less coolant remaining in the imaginary radiator while wearing sneaks. As an imaginary stoved toe or two can ache pleasantly for an imaginary day or so is the usual result. That is all.

NO! the people that park across two spaces are the "Tools" i do not car what kind of car it is. Hopefully you are not arrogant enough to park like that because eventually you will have problems. Maybe you're the TOOL for making personal attacks directed at me on a web forum.

Let me put it this way: If I save one just one car from a keying or other such malicious acts, then i have done my job in making people realize it's ignorant to park in such a manner. I am in no way touching or damaging their car by parking as close as i mentioned previously, if anything i am doing them a service in the respect that i am giving them a wake up call about their parking habits. I am sorry if you are offended but if someone feels they are obligated to take two parking spaces hence denying a spot for someone else, then i too feel OBLIGATED to deny them access to the Driver's side of their car. It's not like i am holding my key out and doing laps around the offending vehicle, although there are people out there that will. Perhaps we can agree to disagree and move on, who knows one day I may seek advice from you on 928 issues and you may need advice from me on 928 electrical stuff, so it's best to get along.

If I park way out in the boondocks, with 30 empty spaces all around me and I take two spaces.... and you do this("you" could be anybody) to me.... you WILL be sorry. YOU are the problem in this case.

I've had this happen where I was not taking two spaces, but some 5h1thead parked too close and put a fresh ding on my car. I had their paint color in the new ding, and they had black paint on the edge of their door. In this case there were empty spaces all around, and the spot I chose was not in the shade... in short, there was no excuse. I won't tell exactly what I did, but I will say that I am quite certain that they would have been MUCH better off not being such a moron about parking/exiting their vehicle. If it happens again and it's an S10, I might just assume it's you and end up showing a bit less restraint....

I was reading on another board where this guy in a new car parked out in 'left field' in a large mall parking lot, and chose to park across two parking spaces (..he was sideways versus nose first); no other cars at the time were even remotely close to him, and the huge lot relatively empty.

Well, he comes out and finds that two cars boxed him in; one parked directly in front of him, and the other directly behind! Other than those three cars way out in the middle of nowhere, the lot was still relatively empty.

How do you like 'dem apples?!
If that was my car surrounded, I'd find some young guy with a pickup truck to pull one or both cars out of the way (young kids are always willing to help out or play ***-h0le pranks), make sure the cars were parked in the middle of the aisle, then remove the valves from several of the tires' valve stems, and pocket them. People want to be ***-h0les, I can play that game too. Especially if parking my car way out in the boonies taking 2 spaces or parked side-ways doesn't affect someone's ability to park their car (read- plenty of empty spaces not ever remotely near my car).

Suit yourself........ but be warned, there is not a shortage of people (not me) that make a career out of being an A-hole and you're bound to meet your match eventually. You don't want to become someone's hobby because of some parking lot antics. Actually I wouldn't even bother with your car out in the back 40 because i'm taking the closest available. I was originally referring to the people that do the 2 space thing in a full lot where spaces are limited. Sometimes rather than parking too close i will leave a note on the window that reads, "I hope you F**K better than you park."

And that's the reason I don't take my 928 out to too many places where I don't trust it by itself.

And about that f*ck thing, you'll have to ask my girlfriend. She hasn't considered trading me in for another year or model as of yet.

I used to have a cousin who was like that, it was his destiny in life, made a career out of being an a-hole. And he was good at it, too.
