Default 1987 clutch slave cylinder-best option?

Hey folks, so I went to drive my '87 928 today, and the clutch pedal went to the floor. I noticed a thin streak of hydraulic fluid on the garage floor-didnt look like enough to fully disengage a clutch, but hey, here I am. Are the cheaper 100-150 options for slave cylinder replacement gone, and I gotta bite the bullet on the 450-ish option? Also, while I'm doing the job, is there more that is suggested to replace? It looks like the MC is a PITA to replace, but can maybe be rebuilt without removal? Thanks for any tips!

best bet collect all the parts and replace the whole system,
also get a Greg Brown flex line from the sway bar mount to the slave,
NOTE this makes bleeding a snap with minimum fluid loss.
I bought one of the last slave cylinders and it was 350.00 that was a few years ago.
NOTE dont get the 86 and earlier slave as its shorter and will wear out the new single disc

NOTE post 36 has a picture of the correct slave

I just went through this process myself, funny that now I seem to be seeing more of these happen.. But maybe it's just because I went through it 2 weeks ago.

I ended up replacing everything, figured if the slave was going then the master is probably not far behind, after all these cars are beginning to age and rubber seals and o-rings are failing right along. Peace of mind if nothing else and the master is less than $200.

Now on to the the brake master as I am sure it's in the same state.. hmm how about the calipers, and ... and .... and....

It's so refreshing when someone realizes the reality of these cars!

Roger, you've missed a golden opportunity to remind our community that Rogerboxes are unencumbered by all of this clutch hydraulics jiggery-pokery.

$588 clutch slaves.
T/O bearings for '87-'95 on backorder.
Pressure plate and clutch disc ~3K, these days?

Seems like someone should come up with a bulletproof substitute clutch assembly, replacing everything....
