Default World's Quickest and fastest Porsche 928 Update

Just an update, we ran last Saturday and lost in the final due to broken motor. Ran a 4.46 @ 168 mph (1/8th mile) That's approximately 6.80 @ 205+ in the 1/4 mile. Previous best was 4.60 @ 159 mph. We are now also the fastest "backhalf" car in the country. (Backhalf means basically stock front frame rails, suspension, and firewall, but all tube chassis from firewall back.) You can see a video of the pass here.VIDEO
As well as pix here. PICTURES
Tshirts are still only $15 plus $4 shipping. Email me at dhump@ev1.net. Thanks!

Did I see some sparks there at the end? I'm guessing oil pan, rod bearing caps, and a few other assorted goodies. Judging from the audio, those people got two for one. A great run with a surprise at the end.

By my math, he's averaging 1.7 Gs for the first 4.46 sec.

Actually the sparks are just the front tie downs hitting the ground. We broke a main web in the block and broke the crank as well, but the motor still ran after that, (although it did make some funny noises) it wasn't until we pulled the motor for inspection that we found the damage.

It's been awhile since I've been on here, but wanted to give a new update. (9 years later, has it really been that long?) I retired this car from racing in 05 and have run 2 different race cars since then. I decided it was time to knock the dust off the old girl and put her back on the street. Lots of work, but another week or so and it will be ready to drive. It now has a 588 ci blown pump gas Chevy motor that should make around 1200 hp.

Next project is the black 82 sitting in my trailer awaiting an LS conversion

Ha ha, no, I am replacing all the lexan. Never ran it in the 1/4. I parked it shortly after that video was shot and built a new car.

I love it.

There's got to be easier ways. Very cool that you went down this road.
