The phrase Old Bugger was coined by Jay K (tension tool maker) to identiify the older 928's. Since he coined the phrase, he further defined them as the older version with the CIS fuel system. Since Johns 82 doesn't quite fit the criteria he has applied for an Honorary OB designation which Jay is considering.

BTW bugger is an English term. Similar to what we would refer to as rascal IIRC.

I think you just fed a troll, but funny nonetheless. I belive the English also interchange bugger or buggering for **** or ********

JE if you decide to sell your 5 speed 83 please let me know. I maybe getting this summer a temp job in Miami for a few months and I will need a daily driver... I have been itching to get a 928 ever since my college days where a friend had a very sweet sounding 81. While I would love a GTS ( who wouldn't) my budget has to be kept low as I have too many P cars and my wife is not going to be thrilled if I rack up a 25G bill for "another" Porsche . Your 81 would be ideal but I cannot live with a 3 speed...
I would for sure like to get another Rennlister's car and not having to venture in to the unknown...

That may go on the chopping block later this year, but it will be hard to part with since I have so much invested in the new paint and upgraded S4 interior which will never be recouped at auction (even with the 5 speed, I doubt it will get the $13K I have in the car). I'll keep your name should I deceide to part with it.

Plans now are to bring the 88S4. If there is going to be any speeding, Kempf will be doing it and I will be in the passengers seat, my license is in bad shape. Looks like several of my ex cars will be down there as well. My brother is going in Ol' Number 1 and the new owner of the 86.5 who also owns the former Jonas Carney 928S will be down there with one of them.

D. Wilson,

Then I have an Old Bugger. I have a 1979 928 that's India Red outside, black inside. I was well advised to buy a K-jetronic 928 because as promised I have yet to have any problems. Not that I've put many miles on it yet.

Je928x4,

I read back through the thread and found that the troll comment was directed at me. Thank you for the laugh, I was told to join the site for help on my car. I was also told to keep a low profile until my post count got up because I might be labeled a troll! On my very 1st post? You guys are brutal. It is maybe a little bit ironic that I now know that I have an Old Bugger and that you only get honorary status. I assume Old Bugger IS a badge of honor, no?

The term 'Troll' is often used in the OT forum to describe a visitor that is posting under an anonymous name, while they also maintain another real identity. We rarely, if ever, get Trolls in this forum.

The fact that you mention the troll issue, indicates you are a frequenter of the OT forum, and thus an individual that we all know over there.

If so, kindly be gone.

Mr. Bodine,

There are several indications in OT, here and your post on the 914 board that suggest Troll. Post some pictures of your shark (yourself included to rule out another OT regular) and some more details of your cars options. I'll post an immediate appology forthwith, tell you about some of the upcoming events that are not topped on this board, and welcome you to the fold. Otherwise, I'll take my time to reformulate my opinion.

Until then, feel free to ask away and I will answer any legitimate 928 question I can help you with. Your first post here didn't instill any confidence in your legitimacy. "What's an Old Bugger?" without the commentary might have gotten you an answer from me on your very first post. Just so you know I am willing to try to help the newbies, you will find that the Guru of K-Jetronic and CIS is Jay Kempf and he doesn't frequent the forums, he sticks to the mail list. Additionally he is the guy that re-engineered the original Porsche TB tool that all 928ers need. He manufactures and sells them through 928 International and 928 Specialists.

WOW.

I don't know what to say.

Other than thank you to the guy on the 914 section who pointed me to a 914 BBS.

I will turn the other cheek here and leave this group as I have been invited to do.

Je928x4, I apoligize if I approached things wrongly, I was trying to break the ice with humor. If you really want to see a picture of my car and me and God's most beautiful country, I will get that too you.

Randy V, trolls are everywhere on the web, I too am a moderator on a web forum so I know that you can do me the favor of purging my info from here.
I really have no interest to continue where I am unwelcome.

Where is "God's most beautiful country"?

Hmmmm, that response pretty much connects all the dots for me. Good luck with the "928"!

As far as good answers to 928 problems go, the Rennlist is the only game in town.....the world for that matter.

Yes Jethro, be shocked and appalled and leave offended.

As a Super Duper Moderator, I can see information about you and your ISP that others cannot. Shall I reveal your true identity? It may prove to be embarrassing to yourself.

Mr. Eifert, I'll request that you refrain from bringing your OT brawls into this forum. Thank you for your consideration.
