Default One advantage to the PK Tensioner (aka Porkensioner)

Since I had my 928's belly pans off I figured I would check out how the PK Tensioner is doing. From below, it is very easy to check the extension of the piston using hex keys (allen wenches) as feeler gauges. Very quick and easy.

Using a borescope with a side camera, you can also closely inspect the piston end of the tensioner for any leaks or problems.

Compared to the process for checking the tension on a stock tensioner, the PK Tensioner is much much easier and faster.

Thanks for the tip as I want to check my extension before going to SITM.

That is a good tip.
Theoretically the stock tensioner is reset once at about 1k mikes after install and you’re done. But there are intense threads on this that are best revisited with great caution

Yeah, removing that stock timing cover to check the belt tension with a stock tensioner is a long, tedious job.
And getting the engine cool takes a bunch of skill, too.
