Interior trim ID

Interior trim ID
Hi,
Wondering if there’s a way to identify the interior trim colours in my 86.5 928 S? Carpet, vinyl and leather. Is it possible to look it up by VIN? Or would there be a code label somewhere in the car? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Grant

Your interior color code is "LA". By any chance are your seats full leather and grey-green in color?

Yes, exactly. The vinyl dash is an olive type colour, and the carpet is grey (but extremely dirty).
Is there any way of determining the dash and carpet colours as well, and looking up the actual colour names to advise the motor trimmer?
Thanks for your help.

Porsche breaks the interior colors down basically into groups - carpet, seats, all the injection molded vinyl bits (dash, center console, pod, A pillars, etc), and all the wrapped vinyl pieces. I'm afraid I don't have the full rundown on what was what for '86, but you can get a copy of the 83-86 Porsche parts catalog (https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...artscatalogue/) , which lists the possible colors available for the various parts, in section 8 of the PDF (starting on page 348).
Your car is right hand drive, so you will want to focus on the 1986 only parts that start with 927.
Alternatively, you can post pictures of your interior here and people can help identify what you have.

Not exactly germaine to your question but we decided to replace all the carpet on my wife's 06 Cayman S. I went to my local dealer. He used the VIN to identify the interior as Natural Brown. This was confirmed by the window sticker. Once you know the factory name for the color, that name is used in the PET for all the items you need. As Rob said, carpet, leather, vinyl. I didn't get into the details with him but the VIN was all he needed. So you might want to try pinging a dealer parts counter and see what they say. (They won't be able to supply the carpet but they can hopefully confirm the color) I placed an order, non refundable, and am now waiting to see whether they can actually get everything. The price was around $3000, which wasn't too shocking. I did suck it up and order a OEM headliner, at around $2000. These fail over time. And a new windscreen. This car is her "baby". As I did with the 928, I'll remove the entire interior and dye/paint the hard surfaces with a matching product from Color Plus.
If you look at pdf page 239 of the PET link provided above, you will see an example of the possible interior color names. I would think it should be pretty easy to narrow down to what you have.
If you get serious about ordering some raw materials, you can try World Upholstery or GAHH.
I am very impressed that someone was able to wear through the steering wheel covering at 3:00 and 6:00. If it were my car, there'd be two small thumb prints at 6:00

I am not 100% sure but I'm 95% sure that that carpet is greyish green, Porsche color code 8JK (taken from PET). It's the only color that makes sense among the listed possibilities for 1986.

Hi Rob,
I think you’re right.
This looks like the colour scheme here:

Related to original post- please advise if already answered
is there any other way to determine interior color?
My trunk sticker is kaput, as in unreadable.
My 91 GT was extensively (everything except lower part of doors, the dash, and console) re-upholstered in white leather with black piping, but the handbrake handle has gray-ish stitched leather trim (which gives me a hint).
Looking to understand the undertaking if I’m to bring it back to original.
Also if anyone has a link showing which, if any, interior parts are fixed color (or only flip between black and white based on interior scheme) that will be great!
Thank you!
Eran
PS car was received on Sunday… will post photos soon!
