Paintless Dent repair?
Some yahoo just backed his Toyota pickup into my right fender by the side marker putting a nice dent there and breaking the side marker light in two. How well does the paintless repair technique work on larger dents in aluminum fenders?

A demostration of this was done on a dented up door at the last Devek Days. It made a huge difference. I think the important factor in fixability is not the size of the dent, but its shape. If the metal is just deformed, it can be worked back into shape. If there are any creases, they may be there to stay, but skilled dent guy can still make an improvement. Other factors, like the shape of the original piece, play into this, but I don't fully understand the art.

I don't know too much about dent repair however if the metal is not stressed and its just a simple "pop out" pop it out and see what happens.
How about a pic?

I had a door ding (minor) fixed via this method on my 928. IT worked awesome. Can't even tell. But Jessa is right, it's all in the shape of the dent, that's why it works well with hail. Also, make sure you have a guy that's experienced. My Blazer had some work done to it, and int he right light it looks ****ty! Just beware.

I used these guys a few times with great results. As long as the paint isn't broken, it's an inexpensive and effective fix. You can't lose anything by trying it... actually, you will lose about $80-100. But no more.

Its the guy's insurance co thats going to pay the bill in the end so cost isn't the only consideration. The shop I just went to go see says $350 and can't guarantee it'll look perfect since its bent near where the front facia meets the fender. will need touchup paint as well. Thinking of going with a new fender and having it resprayed. Should fix some of the pitting of the paint up front while they are at it. Too bad, the car was original.

I have always put paintless dent repair in the same catagory as spray-on hair.
After seeing the guy at Hershey work......unbelievable. I must have watched him for close to a half hour on different two cars. Very nice work (IMHO).

I spent 400 bucks at DEVEK days getting mine fixed. I had a several on several diffferent panels. 400 bucks stung but i couldnt be happier! the work the kid did was amazing! It was litterally like watching magic. Like an using an eraser on a pencil, the dents disappeared before my eyes. As for a guy in the bay area, perhaps Susan at DEVEK will chime in with the guys name (company) who was there. I have his biz card but not handy.
