Default Digital clock diagnosis

Hello guys,
I'm about to finish this never ending Euro 86 928 restauration project (boy it's been 3 1/2 year already...)
Anyway the digital clock is not working. How do you know if it's worth buying the LED screen repair kit or if the clock is totaly toasted ?
When I plug the clock on 12V nothing happens.

Thanks for your help !
Olivier

I have one for sale that works, but has an lcd leak in the screen. If you want it for parts, I'll sell it for $30 shipped.
