Default High oil pressure on cold start?

So I changed my oil this week, and while I was at it, I swapped out the oil pressure sending unit, and put in a rebuilt alternator. My oil pressure would peg at max upon cold start, and only come down to ~4 at idle once fully warm(still would pin to 5 with any throttle action). I assumed it was a bad unit, but with the new one in, I get the same exact behavior. Any thoughts? Worry, or not worry? Thanks for any tips.

It will always be at 5 for a period of time. So I would drive it for 15-20 minutes and see then. There are many posts about high oil pressure at start-up me being one of them. Do a searh on the high oil pressure subject. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...e-to-high.html

IIRC correctly the internal relief valve opens at 8 bar, so the gauge Porsche fitted isn't really appropriate.

It's telling you that the oil pressure is above 5 bar cold at idle (which it clearly is), and is nothing to be concerned about.

I believe there's a section in the owner's guide about what oil pressures you should expect to see on the gauge at various engine temperatures and revs.

Exactly what you want it to do if running the right 15/50 or 20/50 oil. Fully warmed up at idle will still be in the middle of the gauge.
