Default Fuel accumulator test

I Have an 82 Euro S and was having hot start problems. I replaced the fuel accumulator and it went away. Now it’s back. I thought it couldn’t be the accumulator since it was new so I changed the fuel pump check valve which was already somewhat new. I also checked the valve on the side of the fuel distributor. I still have the issue so I read that if the car is run then cut off you can loosen the bottom (to fuel tank) connector on the accumulator and if fuel runs out it’s bad. Fuel ran out so I guess I need another accumulator?? The blue circle is the line I disconnected and fuel ran out. TIA Gunar

I don't think so. I think it is bad if fuel is running out the vent hole on the other end. Meanwhile, I would put a fuel pressure gauge at the motor to see if it is holding pressure with the motor off.

Gunnar,

the accumulator is inverted. On the early accumulators there was a drain hose on the bottom (top in your pic). The later/replacement ones have a small screw on the bottom. That’s where you check for fuel.

Hello Gunar,
how did you solve your problem ? I have a likewise issue : car starts hard warm after sitting for more than 1 hour.
But when turning the small screw off on the accumulator, I have no fuel coming out....so I already replaced the fuel pump check valve and my fuel accumulator is only 5 y old.
My rest pressure after I cut the engine stays for 2.7 bar for 30 minutes, so the FD is also OK.....I am a bit in the dark with my issue....

My accumulator was good. My starting problem turned out to be leaky injectors. I replaced and all good
I found some original to the car (long ones) for a great price. I think they are worth staying with.
