BLEEDING BRAKES
I finally replaced the original brake lines. I previously rebuilt the calipers and bled the brakes with no issues, but wonder on which side of the car the rear lines run?
Keeping in mind that you do the longest line first and not necessarily the farthest wheel. It's too cold the raise the car and get under at the moment.

Stan,
Can you help me understand the bleeding order better? In all other cars I've had, the longest line has been RR, and the shortest the LF. Are the lengths of the 928 lines that much different from other cars?
Thanks for anything you can describe that adds to my education.
Gary

Gary bleeding procedure is taken from the 928 workshop manual.
I know this is backwards from everything you have learned myself included.

for all of that, I always follow the RR first, the LR then RF then LF, and I never had a problem with air bubbles, soft pedal, etc.

If you combine the instructions from WSM 47-22 through 47-24, and a note from Technical Publication for 928S w/ ABS, you end up with the following bleed order:
- Clutch (if equipped)
- Master Cylinder
- Front wheels (it doesn't specify whether to do left or right first, so I personally start with right/furthest).
- Rear wheels (it doesn't specify whether to do left or right first, so I personally start with right/furthest).

When it comes to fluid flushes, I doubt if it matters what order you go in, as long as you get fresh fluid out of all of the bleeder valves. For bleeding air bubbles out, it's probably a matter of "most likely to succeed" versus "usually works". It's nice to have options when things don't go as desired.
