Default 4.5 Cam Timing Question

Getting the front of the motor back together, and I noticed on the crank gear there seems to be a little timing dot. The dot does not line up with the timing mark, but the balancer marks do. If I line up the crank dot on the mark, the cam timing is spot on. The gear notches line up perfectly. If I use the marks on the balancer, the cam notches are about a tooth back. Is this normal?

Cheers
Scott

Got pics? When I put mine together at 0 on the balancer both cam towers were spot on. I made duplicate marks at the fronts of the cam pulleys to make them easier to see. Distributor rotr was right onbthebscribenark too, but the flash in the pic made it invisible

Distributor was off by 1 tooth in this pic - fixed before installation.

please post a picture of the dot .

AFAIK the damper mark should line up and the cams should line up and the distributor rotor should be centered at the hash mark at TDC

Is there a "dot" on a stock crank gear?
