Broken connector for comb actuator?

Not liking the look of this. With a gentle turn the actuator arm came off and slid out easily. New diaphragm on and it slide back in just as easily but can't seem to get it to clip back on. Got enough light and the phone in there and it appears to me the clip has sheared off leaving nothing to attach to? Can anyone who has experience with this please confirm or not from this photo?
Have read Hilton's thread on repairing this if broken, hoping its not the case but my phone camera seems to be telling me otherwise... I have to have the dash out later this year for a recover so if it's broken I can fix it then I guess.

Maybe drill a small pilot hole into the sheared off connector and put a screw through the link, then into the pilot hole? You might need a long drillbit to reach that far though.

Stan, one word, legend. Thank-you, will save me having to open the heater box!
Drill bit on order. Drill won't fit in the space with dash in place so will repair when I recover my dash.
