I have waited with great anticipation for the issue of Pano containing the Firsthand File reports from GTS owners. Hell, I had to be one of the first to send a report to the editors. I badgered and encouraged GTS owners to send something to them so the focus on the 928 didn't fall off their radar screen.

Fast forward to today, I open up the envelope with the April issue of Pano and flip through the first couple pages and look at this - Firsthand File for the 928 GTS is in this issue! Great, I go to page 14 and read what Allen Moore, Roger Tyson and others wrote thinking what I sent them must be on the next page. I turn the page and guess what......... NOTHING! UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE!

Not only did they not use any pictures from the CD that I mailed them, they didn't use my report either! Why? They waited so long to publish, did they loose it? A couple months ago, I called the editor to inquire about when the issue would be out and if they had enough reports. I was told they were close and it would be out in the next few months.

Great to see the 928 get some well deserved attention but, thanks for nothing PANO!!

I'll have to check the mailbox tomorrow morning. I emailed my report a couple of times, just in case they didn't receive the first one. Sounds like I will be disappointed.

hey...nothing new. The 928 IS the red headed stepchild of the Porsche family. While it gets swept under the rug by many, I have respect for the car and those who designed and built it.

I didn't read anything that would give me the same impression you seem to have gotten. Did you expect to read something different than you might read about any other Porsche? All things reported were things we all know are potential weak spots and in spite of that none of the owners said they wouldn't buy again. I didn't read anything I interpreted as negative.

Just got back from the post office and have read the article. Sorry to see that you and your cars are not featured. You have a nice collection there from what I can see. My Firsthand file report is the first one listed. The car now has almost 115,000 miles on the clock. It's a bit dirty right now, since we've had continious rain since late Sunday. But it sure runs great.

I am still trying to get my schedules together in order to get to the cookout and dyno session.

Hey, I don't mean to go on endlessly, but what is going on here is prejudice. This is really no different than any other prejudice found out there: ideas based in fear and ignorance passed on from one to the next. It's the common thought that the 911 IS PORSCHE and any other variant is lesser and unworthy. This thought is baseless, as we all know. If the average 911 owner could borrow a 928 for a week, he would not want to give it back. But because most have not experienced the 928, the prejudice is alive, strong and prevalent.

And we (928ers) have been forsaken all the way up the chain to the top: 928s were not to be raced, continued 928 development was minimal, and after Porsche starved and neglected the 928, it was pronounced dead and discontinued to make room for boxster production. The prejudice poisoned the entire company, and Porsche followed instead of leading the way. What they are doing now is more of this with the Cayenne and 911 nostalgia...reminds me of Harley Davidson how they do things.

I think the 928 was the best Porsche produced ever, and I don't think anyone here will disagree.

By the way, Chuck has an unbelievable collection, even if it's only us that recognize that. If anyone here wants institutional respect (Pano?) we have to buy 911s and park the 928s out back. "Is that your 928?" they ask, we reply"No, I've never seen that car before in my life."

Chuck, you need to start a 928 magazine of your own.

On the flip side.... If the 928 had the respect and value retention the 911 has, I couldn't own 2 and a lot of us wouldn't even own 1.

You make a good point, I certainly wouldn't be able to have two of them! Altohough, I think my 95 is worth more than a comparable 1995 993 and for that matter my 93 is probably worth more than most 1993 964's except for maybe the America Roadster!
