Default What’s this wire do?

I recently had a number of odd electrical gremlins show up in my 88 S4. Power hatch releases quit, power mirrors quit - except still move with memory settings, interior lights are out, clock comes on and off depending on auto shifter position, shift indicator light on dash is out - except for Park, and possible one or two more things. In my work to search I noticed a lot of oddball things are traces backed to CE panel corrosion. Deoxit is on order and coming. After removal of the panel I ran across a single black wire with an OE female spade connector with external locking clips not attached to anything. It was just there behind the CE panel. Any ideas what this wire should be connected to?

it doesnt connect to anything on your car,
Did you touch any of the interior lights? If you did you could have mis wired them ,
disconnect the battery,
then remove all the interior roof lamps to verify that they are wired the same way,
post pictures for more guidncereplace the interior light fuse.

check the door pin switches first then disconnect the hatch ground connector a 2 pin connector at the hatch motor

The hot wire to those interior roof and door lamps goes to the single terminal side of the lights , then the other 2 should match which terminal they're on respectively on each lamp, otherwise some will be on all the time and others won't have manual switch control.
