Same year 911 in the cond they say it is in would go for that price easy, to bad the 928 from that year is a better car in many ways.

Talking

To all,
Agreed, that's a lot of cash.
But from present attitudes -mine included- even , we, the faithful continue to undervalue our sHARKs.
I'm siding with Nicole on this one... if I hit the Mega-Million I'd have a fleet of these cars amongst others. Irregardless of price.
Dennis,
You snob!
The truely knowledgeable Porschephile would place a high premium, indeed, on such a rare and fine example of a Gag-Me-Green paint scheme.
RobbyK,
The year Cleveland caught the river on fire, and then... the Mayors hair on fire at the U.S. Metallurgist's Convention. Iinstead of a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Convention Center they elected to have the Mayor cut a cable with an acetylene torch. He was African-American and this turned into a field experiment with regards to the Flash Point of a popular hair pomade. Should be stills, and film somewhere in Ohio.
Henceforth, and forevermore Cleveland, Ohio, not Erie, Pennsylvania - Dead Fish on the Beach Winner hands down during the 70's- was and is:
THE Mistake on the Lake!
Sweanders,
The term storage covers a lot of ground especially if stored in the 70's/80's.
One scratch, a dusty engine compartment and a missing Porsche intake emblem -probably pried off by a caring storage attendant, or, grandchild- seems like Fair Wear and Tear while in storage for 25/26 idle years.

I've asked the seller for the VIN, pics of stickers, etc. My '78, built 5/78, has VIN ending in 0853 and I have the venturi intake tubes... anyway, IF I get the VIN on this car I'll post it.

RobbyK,
Yep!
Back in the 50's there was only a two lane road heading up that way- Old Route 8 maybe? The last of Route 8, the concrete slab version had only one small piece still intact, I saw it in Warrendale north of the burgh' by old Route19-. The worst of Erie was no observable city planning between the Erie Canal days and the 1930's. The combination of lake sub-surface topography, currents, and the misfortune of being in the "crotch" of Lake Erie's prevailing wind/surface currents lead to the major heavy metal fish kills and subsequent deposits with attendant oders -on the beach-. Trust me, for nearly 15 years I gave Erie a wide berth, except for a year or so when I had a girlfriend attending Gannon.
No sense telling you I know all about your lake effect snows and how cold it gets when the artic 'Hawk" comes roaring across the ice sometimes as late as the end of April.
But, hey! You had a better party atmosphere than Oil City or dare I say Butler?
Could be worse you could be banished to Presque Isle for a year or two.
I'll take hillbilly trash over serious urban "Heigths ghetto any day.
Besides there's some serious 928 two-lane between Erie and Butler.
Might be just personal preference but...I'll take Erie over Ohio's mistake on the lake.

The first 928 I ever drove was a 78 Automatic, privately imported from Germany. It was petrol blue metallic and had over 180k miles on the odo. Needed a complete cosmetic restauration, but was running very well. That's when I got addicted...

Your venturi tubes are not original. They did not exist at the time. They were developed later to meet noise regulations. They became standard for the 1981 model year.

I love that color. It looks almost the same as the last 928 GTS. First and last years in the same color, Hmm......

That is a very easy adjustment, takes less than a minute to fix.
