Default Racing the 928 time at laguna Seca this weekend 4-24-2021

It's that time a year.... The beginning of racing season and what better car than the 928 to get things rolling. the races are sunday at 8:30 and 2pm. Ill have to do some serious tire dumbster diving to find some better tires. those cup car tires are a little too tall... but ill have to deal until something better turns up (*27" diameter)

The corkscrew
..... Where is Anderson so we can share sandwiches and used tires??

After the 2014 Porsche Parade in Monterey, CA, there was a 2 day DE at Laguna Seca. Having that combo would be the best reason to drive the 2.5 days from Neb to experience that slice of heaven on earth. I wasn't wrong as both events were a blast. In preparation for the DE, I spent a lot of time watching a 1 lap video of Johannes van Overbeek driving LS and reading / watching a corner by corner breakdown. I probably added 100 views to the 5500 total on the JvO vid. I was ready. The track was awesome and a load of fun. The corkscrew is amazing, esp when the car in front of you disappears as it navigates the drop!

The only issue I had was it was a 92dB limited event. I had my PSE permanently on and got meatball flagged in the 2nd session for blowing a 94db. 1 more ticket and I was done for the w/e. I asked around for what to do. Most of the locals had fart cans pointing their exhaust to the driver's side. There's a hut coming off of T5 that measures sound. Since I couldn't add a fart can, I was told to short shift coming out of T5 and going up the hill past the hut. So I did and never got another ticket. But that section was less fun as I originally would hammer out of T5 in 3rd gear up the hill. Much less fun when in 4th gear.

There was 1 lap that I early apexed T8a and wasn't able to hit the T8b apex. Kind of a half-Zanardi. Heard a LOT of noise as I cut the corner. Didn't know if I'd hurt my CSS so I took it easy for a lap, listening for issues, but none appeared. When I returned to the corkscrew the next lap, I looked for parts that might be laying around but saw the rain grate. Of course the photographer caught my faux pau.
