Pete,
I would like to install these clear filler inserts too. You refer to Chuck's procedure? Does this mean there is a sound way to remove the rubber pad mounts without having to take the bumper cover off?
Regards,
Bill

>Does someone have the part number for me please?
Those come as a "kit" and include the "half moon" inner part and the Euro Style Clear divider, we sell them for $12.71 each, total $25.42 per car.
On "US" types with the black rubber divider you will need to remove the metal bracket in between the turn signal and fog/driving assembly... and this requires removing the bumper cover. You could "short cut" this by removing all the lens assemblies and using a cutoff tool etc to cut off as much of that bracket as you can to get the clearance needed.
I installed a set on Kevin's GTS and it was easy since we had to remove the bumper cover anyway. I think it gives the front lights of the later 928s a much smoother look.

Oh Forgot, part number for the kit is 928.631.961.00 which is for the clear.
FYI, part # 928.631.963.00 is for the yellow/amber version of the kit used in France. Those are $16.71 and I have never tried to order any, will try today and see if they come in.

>David any idea WHY Porsche fitted rubber to the USA cars ?
Yes, to make them more "bouncy" :-)
Seriously, I think the reason for the rubber trims is to cover up the added steel reinforement part installed in the bumper covers which was deemed to be needed for US bumper laws/safety by some paper pusher. ...

HA, HA.... saline is much better
BTW, if you look at the front bumper covers parts list in the "Euro" version of PET, those steel brackets are coded for "M215 - version for Saudi Arabia"... Maybe it was needed to help the front bumper cover survive at least 2-3 camel collisions on the open desert ... who knows :-)

I have customers in Saudi and the various Arab Emerantes who have commented that it is not uncommon to encounter very slow moving traffic very rapidly.......... The air intake tubes with built in sand traps are another interesting option !
