Hey, you clean up pretty good....
All of the catch up maintenance is done except for the alignment, thanks Jim @ Eurowerks!
Spent the last few weeks cleaning, replacing some warn and/or broken bits, removing the cosmoline and 12 years worth of road grime off the 93. I like to have a fresh start with cars, its easier to keep them clean once they are clean. Right Brendan?

Thanks Bill,
I use Castrol Super Clean to get the road grime off the underside, Oil Flo (available from www.carcareonline.com) to remove the cosmoline and P21S citrus degreaser on the engine compartment (be VERY careful around the intake and cam covers or you'll destroy the factory finish!). It takes LOTS of elbow grease, in fact I'm still sore!

Thanks all, I just think a clean underside and wheel wells makes a car look so much nicer and keeps it looking newer longer. Its not difficult to maintain either, I use a separate bucket to clean this area of the car/truck, spray wheel cleaner in the wheel well clean the wheel and use a long handled brush to get deep in the fender well. I do it on ALL my vehicles. It bothers me to see a nice clean car with brown grungy inner fenders, but that's just me. I know I'm not normal when it comes to this kind of stuff.
Tony,
Pretty clean work area huh? Well, truthfully I clean the underside outside and did the detail work inside....
prophesized,
Cosmoline is the coating that got sprayed under the car at PDI in Charleston to protect it from corrosion. I think I found the winner of the contest between the guys in Charleston about who could get the most on one car! As a note, cosmoline is not used any longer on modern Porsches. Our 2000 996 didn't have any and neither does the Cayenne.
sweanders,
I doubt the Cayenne wheels would fit on the 928. I am in the process of shipping a set of 18' 996 C2 Lightweight wheels to CA in the same boxes the 20" Cayenne wheels for the Cayenne came in. There is about 3-4" on all four sides of the box that I had to build up with cardboard to keep the wheel and tire stationary for shipping. Pretty sure they'd rub all over....
Andre Roodnat,
Sorry, I'm already spoken for....
hupp,
The fender liners are not painted. I cleaned the cosmoline off of them with Oil Flo and rehydrated them with a good soaking of tire dressing.

Man, Chuck.....you have WAY to much time on your hands! Any wife or kids, aside from the 28's that is?? I'd probably be able to get one wheel well done in a year in my spare time......LOL......
Great job, looks spectacular!

Mike,
S.O. soon to be wife, no kids but 3 dogs (just like kids)!
I had/have 50+ days of vacation to use b/f August so..... Honestly, most of the cleaning was done on one Saturday and I spent 2-3 days of my vacation detailing it and putting the car back together. I've done this to 3 other 928's so I kinda have a system worked out and it goes much faster than you might think.

Chuck, looks really great. The clear turn signal lights recently discussed on this board would look awesome on your red GTS.
If you ever do it, let me know if figure out a way to remove the black plastic pieces without removing the bumper - my current dilemma.
