Diminished value claims probably did not exist in this time period. I "pity the fool" who wound up with this car.

Dude, 1/3 of the chassis was missing.

And the motor.

More testament to the integrity of the 928 chassis... That driver was saved by the car...

However, there are shots that even the venerable 928 - can not take...!

i had once the same story with a brand new BMW . ( few months old ) .Rear ended . I thought is was a write off.....

Now that discussion is between the dealer and insurance inspector.... and they agreed to repair ! I sold the car as is and bought a new one.
But to think about it .... the dealer had 2 options : either sell a new car or make a lot of profit with the repair ? And for the insurance , every penny less was better .....

A body in white would have totaled the car. This execution did not (barely). It's a horrible business model for the consumer.

Just noticed it was a 5-speed too

Sometimes sentimental value is beyond monetary value. If it saved his life, perhaps he wants to return the favor and save its life, no matter the cost.

Anything can be fixed. It is really just a question of economics.

Do I recall seeing this car in Jensen Beach getting a head gasket job at what was Rusty Bonds old shop?

If so, chronobiology connections?

The left side damage may have come before or after the guard rail fiasco. My friend says it was an 88 S4 with about 40K miles on it, the pics are from 1991. ALL the stuff came from the dealer
Sounds like Jeff Spicoli may have been driving this 928.
