But we all se it
"Move along nothing to see here folks ". Hopefully my sarcasm was not mistaken by those that do see it.
Do your research and find a community recommended mechanic. The number of good to great mechanics vs the number of cars in need of repair and maintaince is unequal. Most all of these are backed up several months. Then you get a car that hasn't been driven or maintained in years and want to go driving this spring. So the first shop with a good sales pitch that opens up is where it goes. We all invest a lot of time and money into our cars. Some more time while others more money. There are people out there that prey on those with less time and mechanical skills. Get references from a dozen people good and bad. Do the research that at a minimum you would for a good hotel. Even then it can be a dump and or a scam.
Our cars are like our pets and many become part of the family. If you were told by 50 people that, IF you take your pet to "XYZ" to
be bathed and groomed it will come back spayed ! Now you were told by 1 person "XYZ" does a great job best care I've ever had. Who do you listen to ?
Now what happens when that 1 person tells you "XYZ" can save your pets life ? Do you expect to pick up a happy tail wagging pet or an urn full of ashes ?
The obvious problem is that we all see and we all have seen is that "XYZ" convinces the unknowing trustful person into believing they offer the best care you will ever have and that everything will be great. Not only will your pet be groomed better than ever before you will be so excited you will dancing with joy. But wait for it............... OOPs We well of accidently left the door open and your pet ran away and got ran over by a dump truck. GOOD news it's all boxed up BAD news is the box got lost while we were moving.
"but we all see it" Maybe just maybe this never ending chain of events has opened some eyes and hopefully this will never be repeated. The community as a whole is trustworthy and genuinely cares about our cars. But as in any community there are those lurking in the shadows waiting.

the blue one is on eBay
Some of the local enthusiast may have more details on this auction...,
I just read in Feb 24 Forsyth County Paper that the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (Atlanta Area) is conducting a March 2,10:00 AM auction in their parking lot at 101 Castleberry Rd, 30040.
It will be ten 928's seized from the infamous 928 Garage (owner/operator Richard Van Meeteren), a garage/owner we have been previously warned about in this forum. The Sheriff's list includes 7 VIN numbers that range from 1978 to 1986, 2 VIN numbers without a year and 1 brown 928 without a year or VIN.
Other auction details indicate some of the 928's still have keys, others do not, sold as-is, and buyer beware.
There were no details about the drivability of any of the 928's and the Sheriff makes no guarantees about the titles other than the cars are the property of the defendant Meeteren.

Last I saw I think he was selling Parts on Facebook Marketplace using stock photos. For example he was selling a transmission with a photo that came up when you Googled " 928 transmission". I can't remember exactly which one it was but it was either a phone number or an email address that traced back to the Georgia Department of Corrections. That's was a few months ago.
As always buyer beware. Large and / or expensive part should always be Exchanged in person in a cash and carry sort of way unless you're dealing with a very well-known quantity like 928 International..

He hosts a facebook group for people to buy/sell/trade 928 parts. I haven't bought anything from him; but I have connected with parts on that group.
