Default Bad Gears?? Replace all?

In the process of reseal/gasket TB WP ect on the running > 100k miles M28.21 motor 4.7L from the 1984 Euro S parts car (Blue/Blue),

Gears Certainly look shot to me. All have indentations on the edges from belt wear you can feel with your fingers. Belt was fine. The Oil pump gear is the worst but even on the crank gear (steel) I can feel wear. Will have to check the gears on the sister engine that came out of the White donee car. Hopefully there in better shape. If not what are my options? Refurbish or replace?.

Yes, all those are bad. There's not really any refurb option once the teeth are visibly cupped like that. Make sure you get a steel replacement oil pump gear.

good news is the engine from the white car has a good crank gear. Cam gears are worn but not nearly as bad. Can they have any edge or do they have to be perfectly flat? I'll take pictures.

The cam gears are cast aluminum and have an "applied" coating which retards wear. Once the coating is worn away, the soft aluminum wears very quickly.

The new gears, from Porsche, are made from billet aluminum and are hard anodized. No one, to my knowledge has worn one of these gears out, so there is no information on how long they will last, but I'm guessing that they will last many miles longer than the original gears.

The "best" thing to do, when replacing the cam gears with new cam gears, is to replace all four gears at the same time, so that wear from any one gear will not "transfer" to the timing belt and cause premature wear on the other new gears.
The oil pump gear was superceeded to a steel gear in 1989, so the odds of finding a new aluminum oil pump gear are very low.

What you can "get away" with is an entire different story.
Post some pictures of your "other gear" choice, along with how many miles you plan on driving this vehicle (while you own it), and I can make some recommendations.

He had the 16v cam gears and steel oil pump gear as of a few years ago.

I stock all the different gears...in multiples.
And it is rare that someone has better prices....
