I'm working on getting my 86.5 back together and making some progress. I was mounting my power steering pump back up and am unsure about the pressure hose routing (PS lines have not been taken loose from the pump or rack). It seems the only way it can go is for the pressure line to arch up fairly high as shown in the picture. Is this correct and does the line get clamped to anything? I don't recall it being clamped, but It's been years since I took this stuff apart. I found a glimpse of it in a picture I took before disassembly and it appears to stick up high and doesn't seem to be secured. Let me know what you folks think and thanks in advance.
There are 2 plastic clamps that hold the hard line portion of that line to the fender wall. The hose part just kind of sits in that general area connected to the back the power steering pump.
There is also usually a rubber bushing around that metal collar or joint in the middle of the line to keep it from vibrating against the valve cover or side wall.
The clamp mentioned below is along the side wall and probably most easily accessed from underneath the car.
A couple more for reference. Notice the rubber ring in place on the crimped metal sleeve, protects the hose material from chafing where it touches the shock tower.
I’ve since replaced this line with new from Porsche and the new line also included the rubber buffer ring.
