Well, the 944 is not in super great shape, particularly cosmetically. So for it to sit out under a tarp isn't as bad as it might be. I had access to the cars at the storage I used to have. It was also sad to go 'visit' the cars (change the oil, check on the battery tenders, ect). Unfortunately, the friends that own it are in serious trouble. The husband, a good friend for a long time, died back in August. The wife, also a good friend, was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer right before Thanksgiving. Due to a couple different things, having my cars where they've been for about 15 years simply couldn't happen. Because of the timing, arranging different storage was difficult and expensive. So they stay at my house.
It's very kind of you to offer storage. However, the transport costs would be more than indoor heated storage for the rest of the year for everything. Plus travelling 1k+ miles to drive my stuff isn't terribly appealing.
A new garage is on my wish list. 4 car, 2 wide, 2 deep. Probably a lift.
I'm not sure when or even if that's going to become a reality.
Besides, I like to drive my cars. That's one of the reasons neither the 944 or the 928 is in 'collectible' shape. I don't mind adding miles or 'wear and tear' on them.
This GTS isn't like that.
For no other reason than financial, it would spend most of it's time sitting under a cover.
That's not where I like my cars to be.
So, as nice as it would be to get it, this one's going to pass me by.

Not sure what the reserve was, but for a GTS, 42K is way cheap.
However, of late, 928 prices on BAT have been very low. And the BAT people have been setting the reserves very low. (They set the reserves....you can ask for a certain reserve, but in the end, the set it. Of course you can refuse the reserve price they pick, but they won't list the car.)
Many 928 owners, hoping to find a new owner, have been burned by this....badly.

I told them what I wanted for reserve and told them we would not list it for lower. Then didn't have an issue with it.

I was really shocked that it didn't go higher either. However, a RL member that did bid has reached out and it looks like we will arrange a deal that will work for all.

"RL member" self identified! Yes, Colin brokered a deal that we all could live with. I love working with Colin, he makes everything easy. I am so very excited for this car. I love the color combination, the condition, and everything about it. Next challenge will be getting the car from Canada with COVID restrictions. Stay tuned for more updates.
Definitely have to get a PacNW 928 gathering set up when all this Covid stuff blows over.....Fingers crossed it'll be doable in Fall...we'll see..

As a 92, if it is one of the first 12 GTS's it will have XX8 on its option sheet which I did not see in the auction. I do know that the last XX8 car was sold in Japan, (Zermatt Silver over Magenta 5-speed) sooooo it is worth checking your build sheet.
The XX8 GTS quarter panels and gas filler doors are slightly different from the later GTS's. (I have both) and my guess is that the first 12 cars might eventually carry a slight premium?
Again congratulations on your purchase and I hope to see it somewhere down the road.
Enjoy!
