One doesn't realise how sad until one starts tearing parts off the car. I pulled a slightly damaged fender .,. but had to kill it to get it off because of lights not popping. Man it sucks.
Oh, what was the absolute worst was the sounds of the winch dragging the car onto the car carrier. The front suspension being so busted creaked, groaned and screamed. Then there was the high pitched sound of steel scraping. And of course the horror of watching it all.

Then the offloading . . . the tow truck driver actually dropped it in the street so we started it up (still runs absolutely perfect) and plowed it up the driveway. Ugh, the ugly memories of the 928 plow.

Hi Beth:

I'm sorry to hear about the smashed 928, but I'm glad nobody got hurt. You can usually replace a car, but not a human being.

And: If boyfriends were not allowed to make mistakes, a lot of people would be single...

Oh Beth,

That is really too bad. Can I have your seats? (nevermind, Just saw the photo above. ...) Are you gonna replace it with yet antoher shark? I would! But on the other hand, since Jim says sharks are cannibals, you could use the ins. money to maintain the S4.- Ruf

To be honest he smooshed the car a week ago Sunday. I didn't want to post anything until we knew it was a goner and he had recovered emotionally somewhat.

My driveway is alongside my house, my kitchen and living room overlook the driveway. It's really cool when you have a great car out there, but last night I just couldn't stand looking at this car anymore - it's depressing! So I grabbed some tools and starting taking things apart. The faster it goes away, the faster we can get a new one!

Remember, that's not just the transmission. It's also a new differential and torque converter.....and AFAIK, there aren't any left for the price you got.

I am begining to think those of us who have lost their 928's due to accident, act of God, or act of boyfriend should have our own Web Site or posting site on the rennlist. It seems our numbers are growing.
Although this was OUR shark, it was more his baby than mine. He had invested much more time and money in it than me. Dang, his dream car shattered in 2 seconds.

I like the idea of the "928 in memory of board" for all the lost sharks

For some reason the "grapes of wrath " keeps popping up in my mind now if I could just think of a clever way to work that into this thread .
