Fred --

Do you have any local services that offer metal-spraying to restore bearing surfaces? I'm not a fan of it for the regular bearing surfaces unless very well done, but for that thrust face it may be a good option. It was a regular repair process on some industrial stuff I worked on several decades ago.

Bob,

I tend to think along the lines that advanced services are not available here but at times I have been quite surprised at what I was able to find when needs be. There are some very advanced workshops up in Dubai and I have some contacts there. I tend to think of metal spraying as a sort of metallic equivalent to a tyre retread- possibly a bit unfair. That being said the loads on the thrust under normal conditions are not that demanding or so logic would suggest.

At the moment, like you I have been on lockdown irrespective of what the local law insists on so I go no where I absolutely do not have to. Despite this I currently have a bear of a sore throat and have isolated myself in the TV room until I know for sure it is just a plain old cold [as it seems to be]. Amazing what goes through one's head with the onset of such symptoms though!

For the money/2yrs warranty and hassle free exchange, this is very hard to beat...

I was the first customer Worldwide of their programme, thus I got a slight discount, but still think GBP1750 isn't bad, when you factor in the cost of new full set of Genuine Porsche crank and rod bearings...

Hope this helps,

Alex
That's a great deal...and a great plan.
