I too have some reservation it being only the TT, but thought to throw it out as a suggestion. Hopefully we'll get the report shortly with a complete diagnosis.

Owner did say how much he appreciated Kevin's and Roger's help with the 928 and what a great 928 owner community we have as 928ers.
Owner was impressed with you, too. Nice community we have here.

Default Compression Test Results

Owner also thinks the PS coil wire was not fully seated in the distributor cap.

Waiting on the owner to button her up and see if that made a difference.

I need to add another thing...

On two occasions, once while I was driving and once when someone else was driving the timing belt warning was triggered.

Timing belt tension was already checked before these warnings.

if the tension is good and the belt triggering is going off,
either their is an issue with the belt run OR the sensor wire or connection or the tensioner pin connection is at fault

Check the orientation of the spade connector on the tensioner arm, it is very easy for it to be up against the center cover. Add some vibration and you can end up with a loose connection that will trigger the warning light. BTDT.

Just adding another data point for all those following along on this thread. I was contacted by the owner of the subject 928 and he said a check of the TT front bearing location found it at about 27" from the front. This is about 15+ inches too deep.

This a classic failure for 928 5-speed TTs, although there have been some that migrated forward, but very few.

So there seems to be a few different problems contributing to the felt vibrations of this 928.
