Motor Mount Heights - OEM vs Volvo vs Anchor

Sorry if I wasn't clear I didn't start this thread to see which mount works best I just want to know which one is the shortest so I can lower my engine a little to provide clearance for a project I'm working on. So far OEM is lower than Volvo mounts anywhere from 3mm with the washers to 1mm without or maybe even 3/4" (depending on who you talk to). I won't be able to get my car up in air till next weekend but when I do I will measure to see the relationship of the pan to the cross member (I have Volvo mounts) to see how it compares with Jim's 1/4".
Thanks all.
Thanks all.
I hoard these.
!/4" difference in where the engine sits, in the chassis, is the difference between driving around someone versus being driven around, everything else being equal.

We all have different experiences but I would never call someone "thick headed" for using something that works and is better than the original.
That is like saying that someone who pays you a zillion $ to upgrade an already good stock engine is "thick headed". Same situation and worth the effort and money for something better than original.
I know you do not like aftermarket parts like MM's and the PKT and I can live with that 110% - but to say that someone who wants an aftermarket crank, pistons or intake on their upgraded 928 engine is "thick headed' is pushing it a bit 8>.
We do need to think out of the box on parts - there are some 100 sets of Porsche MM's left at circa $700 a pair. Once they are gone they may be NLA or they may come back at $700 each.
$700 buys 7 sets of Volvo mounts - just saying.
We have options which is a great position to be in. Volvo, Anchor, Hans MM and, god forbid, a 928MS solid metal mount 8>

Internet Myth tossed around like ti was fact.
What makes them functionally better?
The stiffer part or the higher part?

.....Find a decent set of used factory mounts, which are not completely collapsed. (Top of mount isn't showing metal to metal contact with upper bracket.)
I hoard these.

To the OP: I know what you are trying to do...lower the mass of the biggest, heaviest parts "group" in your car instead of raising it. I'm sorry, but not surprised, that everyone else, here, is too fricking stupid to understand the importance of this.
I answered your question accurately and truthfully, however, I'm really sorry to have bothered....the abuse for being honest just isn't worth it!
To everyone else, here: Go xxxx yourselves. Rationalize your raised engine and what it does to the handling of your car you dumba$$es.
To everyone on Rennlist: I currently make 137 different products for use in the 928 models, both to replace pieces that are NLA and to improve the performance and function of these cars.
My designs are stolen. My parts are copied.
Sorry, but I'm completely over people like this cheesexxxx above.^^^^^^^
Effective immediately, my pieces will be available exclusively through my own shop.
I'll "roll out" an updated website, with all the products I offer, in a short time.
And for the people that "look here" for my extensive knowledge and advice, I'm done helping people on this Forum. Sorry, I'm really sick and tired of idiots, like the guy that posted above.
Roger: Mary will officially close your account, tomorrow and forward, to you, the total of your unpaid balance (which you are months behind on.) I expect payment immediately in full.
Have a great time, people. You know how to find me, get help, and be able to buy my pieces.

well that escalated quickly and made a lot of sour mash
imagine if we could work 3/4 of an inch closer together how much stronger we would be as a team
Each of us, we have purpose on our path ,
finding harmony with our path produces great rewards
Letting discord onto our path will scatter our efforts
Is 3/4 of an inch all it takes ?
How about 1/2 an inch?
what would have occurred if this thread never happened?
Their is a game called the Red an Black game
in it players are put on the red team or black team then asked to figure out how to win with the highest possible score
most will lose as they don’t understand how to play to win.
Note this is a game that mimics how we play our game of life
The way to win is that nobody looses,
Note If one person looses everyone looses.
That’s how to win at the game of life.
Consider how you play your part in the game of life
its fun and rewarding if you know how to play.

Jeez guys really. This is why I didn't want to bring up my real reason for lowering my engine:/ This thread is not me complaining about the height of my existing Volvo mounts or any mount. In all honesty if you raised or lowered the engine 4" either way I doubt I would be able to tell the difference. The real reason for lowering the engine is that I'm going to raise the intake just enough to fit that second knock sensor under the U. I bought a VEMs PnP ECU and want to take advantage of the ability to add knock sensors (and O2) so I add a mid-mount turbo. Can't wait to everyone's opinion on this:/

A mid mounted turbo on an 85 Euro!
Madness!
Seriously the world is so crazy right now-
business is wacky!
Rennlist and 928’s are my escape.
Do we really need to have these type of fights over stock vs. aftermarket parts?
”don’t all engine mounts matter?”

Greg that is an absolute lie AND YOU KNOW IT - WE ARE FULLY PAID UP APART FROM THE LAST INVOICE WHICH WE HAVE YET TO RECEIVE and that will be paid on receipt.
You of course will take back all the parts I have bought from you and have in stock - we will return them in the next few days for full credit including shipping.
I will of course per your instructions remove all GB parts from our inventory and web site.
Sorry you had a silly hissy fit over a motor mount.

Really? I have absolutely nothing to do with any of this other than I'm a guy trying to make light of a very awkward thread.
Frankly, I very much value your experience and insight into these cars. However, your delivery could use some serious improvement.
If a meme of a goddamn cat sets you off like that, you've got bigger problems. Seriously- it was a joke.
Sincerely,
Dr. Cheesedick
